What is biophilic design you ask and how can it positively affect your health?
If you know me, you know that my other passion is health. I have always been told your health is your wealth, so if you don’t have your health them what do you have right?
So it is my mission to share with your all ways to look after your health. I do believe that what we are surrounded by can have a positive effect on our health which leads me to talk about biophilic design.
For those of you who are not aware of what this is, it is essentially is the idea of creating a more natural environment indoors by incorporating planting, grass, living walls etc, more natural lighting and ventilation, along with other less natural ways to incorporate a feel of nature.
Biophilic design is not only about plants, is it about creating a more calming natural environment principally, so to create a biophilic space, we can incorporate things like wood and other natural materials, we should also look at color closely associated with naturaI.

A heavily glassed space is ideal to create a a biophilic setting, allowing the outdoors in, creating light and flow. Incorporating patterns that are seen in nature is another way to introduce biophilia. Why would you want to introduce biophilia into your space, well there are many reasons, staring with the positive effect it has on the environment. With the environmental decline becoming an issue, we need to be even more considerate of our responsibility to do our bit and creating spaces like this is a great way to do it, additionally the positive effect on our health and wellbeing is invaluable. Fresher air, more natural light, calming colours, reminders of a less complex realm. Biophilic interiors are about creating a space sense of serenity which leads us to feel more relaxed, reducing stress levels, improving mental wellbeing .It promotes feelings of happiness and overall improved health. It can encourage a rise in creativity of at least 15% so ideal for work environments. It has also been linked to improved cognitive function.
Knowing all this why wouldn’t your want to introduce this into your home or workplace?
